Leading 19 of the final 20 laps in the final segment of The Sprint Unlimited held at Daytona Interna-tional Speedway, Kevin Harvick driving the PWR cooled Chevrolet took the chequered flag to win the debut race for NASCAR’s Gen 6 race cars. The vic-tory for Harvick in the Sprint Unlimited was his third in the past five years.

The Sprint Unlimited, formally known as the Bud Shootout, is the traditional curtain raiser for the NASCAR season. It starts a big week at Daytona with qualifying, followed by the twin 150 mile Gator-ade Duels then the 500 mile classic next weekend.

Aboard his Budweiser Chevrolet from Richard Chil-dress Racing, Harvick ran at the front of the field throughout the 75 lap race, which was broken down into a three segment event.

The opening segment was marred with a big wreck which took out six cars.
