Scott McLaughlin who drives the PWR cooled Ford Falcon for Stone Brothers Racing has been crowned the 2012 V8 Supercar Dunlop Development Series champion after the final race of the season at the street circuit at Sydney Olympic Park.

Starting from pole in the second race following his race 1 win, McLaughlin led the opening corners before dropping back to third place without challenging for position. He drove conservatively but fast throughout the race determined not to get into any hard racing that might jeopardise his championship.

McLaughlin’s third place podium spot on the final race of the season gave him enough points to secure the drivers championship in the series by 76 points.

On the podium a jubilant McLaughlin was thankful and grateful to the team that had helped him achieve the title.

“I couldn’t have done this without my boys. We’ve had three years of ups and downs. I have to thank Ross and Jimmy (Stone), they’ve stuck by (me)… This is awesome.”
