Kimi Raikkonen driving the PWR cooled Lotus E21 has won the opening race of the Formula1 season at the Australian Grand Prix held at Albert Park in Melbourne.

Raikkonen, the 2007 world champion, drove to victory on a two stop strategy and crossed the line 12.4 seconds clear of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso with tri-ple world champion, PWR cooled, Sebastian Vettel rounding out the podium in third place for Red Bull Racing.

A few light showers contributed to an intriguing race, with seven cars having the lead in the race. Raikkonen hit the front on lap 43 of the 58 lap race and cruised to win his 20th Grand Prix.

“I knew I had a good car so I was confident we could have a good race,” said Raikkonen.
