Racing for the British Touring Car Championship was at the picturesque Oulton Park circuit with 3 races.
Race 1- Colin Turkington took a lights to flag win in the first BTCC race of the day leading a BMW one-two in the process ahead of Rob Collard. As predicted it was the two PWR cooled WSR BMW’s leading into the first corner as Collard leapt from fourth to second, making full use of his fast starting rear wheeled drive BMW.
The MG of Jason Plato and Honda’s Gordon Shedden joined the two BMW’s to make it a four strong quartet with the leaders all trading fastest sector times. Turkington eventually prevailed by nearly three-seconds over team mate Collard, who in turn enjoyed a similarly comfortable gap ahead of Plato.
Race 2 – Colin Turkington doubled up with another win with Rob Collard taking second. This time it was the Audi of Rob Austin who proved to be the first of the resistance and defiantly held of the charging MG of Jason Plato and Honda’s Gordon Shedden to take his first podium of the year.
Race 3 – Aaron Smith won the reverse grid race for his second victory in the BTCC with a superb defensive drive in his Volkswagen in wet and difficult conditions. Gordon Shedden followed in the Honda with Colin Turk-ington third in the BMW.
