The British Formula1 Grand Prix was held at the Silverstone race track and the racing was fast and furious as well as being unpredictable. With safety car periods, tyre issues, unexpected retirements and a surprising winner in Nico Rosberg’s in a Mercedes. It was his first race win at Silverstone as well as the first one for the team since 1955.

The race looked like another Sebastian Vettel victory, driving the RB9 which uses the full PWR Performance Products cooling package, but while leading the race he encountered gearbox failure on lap 42 and had to retire with just 12 laps remaining.

Meanwhile Vettels’ team mate, PWR cooled Mark Webber qualified in fourth position but had a bad start which resulted in him making contact with another car on the first corner which required him to pit for a new front wing. A tenacious drive from Webber saw him climb steadily up the order throughout the race. He was back into the top 10 by mid race and he benefited from several Safety Car periods to be within striking distance of the lead with 10 laps to go.

Webber was able to overtake at will and with five laps to go he was lying second and hunting down race leader Nico Rosberg. He set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap and crossed the line just 0.7 of a second behind to score his fifth consecutive podium finish at Silverstone.

Vettel leads the championship by 21 points with 3 wins. Five of the top 10 cars in the championship use PWR Performance Products.

6 of the top 10 cars at the Silverstone Grand Prix used PWR Performance Products.
