Jamie Whincup driving theTriple Eight Racing Hol-den Commodore which uses the full PWR Perform-ance Products cooling package has been crowned the V8 supercar champion for the fourth time at the 3.4 kilometre street circuit at Homebush, Sydney.

Needing only to avoid an unlikely penalty to claim back to back crowns, Whincup finished the final race in fifth position.

Whincup and the Triple Eight Racing Team found themselves on the back foot early in the year as the PWR cooled Ford Performance Racing Team threw down a determined challenge with the fac-tory Ford squad winning seven consecutive races in the April to May period.

A mid season turnaround eventually saw Whin-cup able to wrap up the title with an event to spare, the first time such a feat had been achieved in 10 years.

It was a 1-2 finish for the Triple Eight Racing team as Whincup’s team mate, Craig Lowndes finished second in the championship.
